FILTER vs. Twilio Lookup
One flat credit vs. à la carte pricing.
Twilio Lookup charges per data package you request on a number — line-type, carrier, caller name, and so on each stack as separate line items. FILTER works the other way: you choose which checks are enabled for your account once, in Settings, and every request costs one credit at one multiplier — no per-package bill to reconcile.
| FILTER | Twilio Lookup | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | One credit, one multiplier, for whichever checks you've enabled | Pay per data package requested — costs stack per signal |
| Cost to reconcile | One line item per check | Multiple line items per number, one per package |
| Dashboard focus | Purpose-built around number-quality metrics — junk rate, source attribution | General communications console, not phone-quality-metrics-first |
| Already deep in the Twilio platform (SMS, voice, video) | A separate vendor to add | One less integration — it's already there |
If your stack already runs on Twilio for SMS or voice, staying on Twilio Lookup avoids adding a vendor, and that operational simplicity is worth something real. If you're evaluating phone verification on its own, though, à la carte package pricing gets harder to predict as volume grows — that's the specific gap a single flat credit closes.
